The reason for this update is due to Twitter recently enforcing ‘protective measures’ to Twitter growth tools such as Tweepi in relation to aggressive follow churn. This has hindered their effectiveness as of May 2015 (see image below).

Don’t panic! This blog will provide clear, actionable steps on how to get around these ‘protective measures’ and continue to effectively grow a targeted audience for free.

This strategy will provide equally as effective results as discussed in the previous version of this blog: How to grow a targeted Twitter following in 5 steps.

The previous blog demonstrated the simple strategy I implemented over a 3 month period to help grow over 3,000+ (and still growing) targeted followers (see image below).

Use the following steps to help quickly and effectively grow a targeted Twitter following.

60
This is a free tool which allows you to search for your competitors’ followers and follow them. (www.tweepi.com)

Go to the ‘Follow Tools’ drop down menu and click on ‘By @user’s followers’. In the box type in one of your main competitors Twitter accounts. In my case it is a local Digital Marketing Agency. Click ‘Search’.

Note: By following Twitter users who are interested in similar products/services that your competitors provide, it is likely these users will be interested in yours too and follow you back.

Put your mouse over ‘Follow’ and repeatedly click. This will automatically follow the user and skip down to the next, making it an extremely efficient process (see image below).

Note: To avoid accidentally following accounts which you may not want to be associated with, ensure you ‘skim’ the accounts when clicking.

Because of Tweepi’s new ‘protective measures’ update, you are now limited to following 500 users every 24 hours with the free version. Therefore, you need to enhance the ratio of users who will follow you back. This can be done in 2 ways;

1. Click on ‘Follow Ratio’ (as shown below) before bulk following. This will order users in their follow vs. following ratio. Any user close to 100%+ is much more likely to follow you back. Use this information to only follow users 70%+ for best results.

2. Alternatively, click on ‘Last Tweeted’ to order users in terms of how recently active they were. By only following users that have been active in the last few days you are skipping inactive accounts that will not follow you back.

This is where you will need to use a new tool due to Tweepi’s new restrictions on ‘flushing’ users who aren’t following you back.

24 hours after following 500 new users, sign up to a ‘Freebie’ Account on Manage Flitter.

Once signed up, click on the ‘Manage tab’ then ‘Unfolllow’.

Click ‘Batch Select’ then ‘Select All Accounts’. An error message will appear but don’t panic! Click ‘Increase your unfollow limit’.

A new menu will pop up asking you to perform certain tasks to increase your unfollow limit to up to 2,300/day. Simply follow, tweet and subscribe to permanently increase unfollower limit (+700).

jjjj

Once this is complete, you should be able to select all acounts and click ‘Unfollow (number of accounts) Later’.

jjjjj

Click ‘Process Now’.

Repeatedly click ‘Unfollow’ untill all accounts who do not follow you back are unfollowed.

Repeat step 3 and 4 every 24 hours (obviously you won’t need to sign up for Manage Flitter every day in step 4 just sign in).

These two steps takes no more than 10 minutes when you get used to it.
